Dear Kimmi9,
According to the World Health Organization, The Dominican Republic
does not require any vaccinations.

That said, however, I would strongly recommend that you take a look at
the Center for Disease Controls web site which recommends a list of
vaccinations for travelers to the Caribbean.

According to the State Departments Travel Advisory for the Dominican
Republic, there have been 8 deaths this year attributed to Dengue
Fever.

There is no vaccine for Dengque, a disease transmitted by mosquito.
However, appropriate medical care upon infection reduces the chance of
serious effects due to the disease. See the Center for Disease
Controls site on this topic at:

Having traveled extensively throughout Latin America I believe I saved
myself a lot of discomfort and expense by being vaccinated before
traveling. Ultimately I understand that this is a decision best made
by the individual and his/her physician. The risks associated with
some vaccinations may be greater than the risks of contracting the
disease, especially for children.
I hope this has been helpful. If you require any more information
please request a clarification.
