Hello.I would like to get some information on prep-coures available
for the North Carolina refrigeration exam given every 6 months.I had a
company mail me some information about a year ago about a course that
they teach. I was not able to attend the class, but I did purchase
some training manuals. Now I am interested in attending the class, but
I cannot remember the name of the company. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you. P.S.- The exam is given in Raleigh, so the
class is probably located there.

Angelboy..

Living in North Carolina, your question immediately drew my attention.
In doing research on your question, I came across several resources
that I think will help you find what you are looking for.

A refrigeration contractor's license is require for anyone who
installs, repairs, or maintains commercial, transport, or industrial
refrigeration equipment in North Carolina. The exam is offered twice
a year, in May and October and you can download the application at
http://www.refrigerationboard.org/textonly/forms.html. The major
requirement is 4000 hours of experience in working with refrigeration
equipment and half of this can come from education.

There are several community colleges throughout the state that offer
courses as well as the exam, for the refigerator contractor's exam.
Not knowing where you are located, I have listed the colleges and
there websites below:

Wilson Technical Community College
http://www.wilsontech.cc.nc.us/

Forsyth Technical Community College
http://www.forsyth.tec.nc.us/

Central Piedmont Community College
http://www.cpcc.cc.nc.us/

Carteret Community College
http://gofish.carteret.cc.nc.us/

Gaston College
http://www.gaston.cc.nc.us/

Mitchell Community College
http://www.mitchell.cc.nc.us/

The above are from the North Carolina State Board of Refrigeration
Examiners' website (http://www.refrigerationboard.org/default.htm),
however, in looking for commercial organizations that offer training,
it appears that the vast majority of community colleges in North
Carolina offer training to prepare for the exam. You can visit the
North Carolina Community College System website at
http://www.ncccs.cc.nc.us/ and find the community college closest to
you.

There are also companies that offer prep course for the NC exam via
seminars and other means:

Construction Data Online
http://www.hvacandplumbing.com/
They offer 3 day seminars as well as books and other material to
assist in passing the exam. From their website, it appears there are
some changes regarding the licensing in NC, so they do not currently
have any seminars scheduled.

Garly Harlow, Inc
http://www.gradyharlowinc.com/
They offer classes in Charlotte as well as in Raleigh

Thank you for your question and good luck with your exam! If you need
any additional clarification, pleaes let me know.

Regards,

-THV
