Hello, hope you don't mind, but I've tried to collect information on
your question too. I have gathered a lot of addresses and contact info
of business directory publishers most of the countries you mentioned.
The possible hurdle I've run into is that certain companies have many
branch offices in several countries, so I wonder if I could list these
different offices of the same company for each country. Also, I assume
you're looking for companies that have business directories on CD-ROM,
so you will exclude those BD companies with websites that don't have
CD-ROM, is that right?
Also, this is quite a long list to post here. If I am able to finish
it, would it be all right to post the result in a file located in
another website? Thanks.

Hi techtor,
First of all, thank for the efforts that you have exerted. Here are
the answers to the points that you have raised, and some more
clarifications from my side:
· Including branch offices and subsidiaries: Yes, that would be also
useful. Just to play it safe, though, it would be great if you can
include one/two new company/ies per country. The reason for that is
the for multinational companies, the decision usually comes from one
centralized locations. So if things do not go as expected with a
particular company, all of their branches will be also out of the
game.
· Excluding online business directories (BDs): Yes, you are right.
Lets put it this way: it is about reaching companies that distribute
physical products (directories), whether in paper or CD format.
· Uploading the List Externally: Yes, that would be fine.
· Type of Companies Sought: Lets make it simple; the key activities
the I am looking forward to are Sales and Distribution of BD. This is
more than just production of BDs, mainly because if I end up
contacting a competitor producer of BD then probably they wont be
interested in selling our products.

I think I have trouble figuring out which are distributors and which
are your potential competitors. For example, let's look at Kompass:

Would this company be one of your competitors, or one of those that
you are looking for?

Thanks for requesting a clarification.
Yes, they would be considered as competitors, because all of what they
are doing is selling their own BDs. However, if they were selling
other companies products, then this would make them a potential
channel.
It doesnt have to be a BD company at all, by the way. They could be a
marketing/sales company that handled CD products relating to the
business field. This way, it is not going to be difficult for them to
accommodate for marketing BD's. They could be also a distribution
company that handles CD products: These could help in making our BDs
available in point-of-purchase locations.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now I know that what I have found on the
Net are mostly competitors, and I admit I have been on the wrong
track. It will prove a bit difficult to get what you need since the
most easily found information is on the Business Directory makers
themselves (your competitors). I found only a handful of sellers of
directories, and they are not in the countries you mentioned. Some
pages I found that list business directories are libraries or
government databases. Should I be unable to find a complete answer, I
will try to post what I have found so far as a comment.

Hi techtor,
Thanks for all your efforts. I really dont want these efforts to be
wasted. I did some more research yesterday and found that that some
types of marketing agencies might be able to help opening channels in
these countries. These are the types of organization who can take over
the marketing, sales, and distribution of any product. I am working on
some criteria now to help in narrowing down the search.
I realize the that the question will expire in a two days, so I am
going to post another one this to give more time.
