Hi, I have an HP Pavillion N5495 and would like to upgrdate the
internal Hard Drive. I know this will void my warranty (which expires
in a few weeks anyway). But it's not obvious to me how to do it.
I purchased EZ-GIG expansion card, which in theory allows me to plug
in my PCMCIA card into the slot, plug my brand new IBM TraelStar 40
Gig driv einto the cable, and copy an exact image of my old hard drive
on to the new one. Then I am simply to remove the old HD from the
computer, and replace it with the new one.
Problem 1: EZ-GIG card doesn't recognize my hard drive (and I tried
also with a second, brand new hard driv,e so I don't think its the
hard drive). Solution: EZ-GIG website says "put the new hard drive in,
and then copy in reverse". Fine, but
Problem 2: I can't really figure out how to take the old HD out. There
are screw-panels for RAM, battery, and some bizarre chip that I think
might be the CPU, but no indication anywhere of how to remove the hard
drive.

So, help would be most appreciated on 2. I would also prefer to copy
the old drive onto the new drive without removing it first (seems less
risky to me that way)--I have all of my important data backed up, but
if I lose the HD image i will have to spend several days re-installing
softwares, etc.).
Thanks very much.
