I can't open my hotmail account from my laptop at home. I get a NO Socket Error: 12007, #Ox800CCCOD message, but I can open the account on my computer at work. The account is still receiving messages, I just can't log on to it from my home computer. How can I fix it? |

You havent specified which program is giving you this error, or what operating system you are running. This error message indicates that the program is unable to create a network socket, usually due to a problem with Winsock installation. If your browser (IE/Netscape) gives you this error, then you will not be able to visit any sites using it. If the error is given by your mail software (Outlook Express) then you will not be able to connect to your mail account. Here is a MS KnowledgeBase article that discusses hoe to fix an error with your WinSock installation. Although the article talks about a different error message, the remedy it offers should work for you. - Error Message: Unable to Initialize Windows Socket Interface Code ( http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q246727 ) You can also check out the following discussion at Computing.Net between people who were suffering from the same problem as you. Most of them found the above remedy effective. The article also discusses other solutions. - Computing.Net: Unable To Create A Network Socket ( http://www.computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/8583.html ) Hope this helps. If you need any clarifications, just ask! :) | |
