Hi bluestreak-ga, Thanks for your question. According to a New York Times obituary, Goesta Andreasson was born on December 9, 1894 in Goteborg, Sweden. He passed away on June 10, 1982 (the obit is dated June 10, 1982, Thursday and states he died on Tuesday) in Riverdale, the Bronx. He was 87. Andreasson was a second violinist for the Busch Quartet from 1919 to 1943. After leaving the quartet, he went to Carnegie-Mellon to teach (he stayed until 1963). "Goesta Andreasson, Teacher And Busch Quartet Violinist" New York Times, June 10, 1982, sec. B, p. 22 (Late City Final Edition). Search strategy: Biography and Genealogy Master Index. Detroit: Gale Research Co. (online database) pointed me to Biography Index. "Biography Index" H.W. Wilson Co., 1983. vol. 12 pointed me to the NY Times obit. I hope this answers your question. If you need additional information, please ask for clarification and I will do my best to assist you. Regards, luciaphile-ga | |
