Is it possible to receive information reported in a CLUE
(Comprehensive Loss Underwriters Exchange) report if you are not the
person whose report it is. For example, insurance companies check
your CLUE report when you apply for insurance. I am interested in the
information for direct marketing purposes. I would like to order the
report in mass. I do not have the prospects names ahead of time.

Hello--

I have carefully researched your question and have your answer.

If you are not the person whose CLUE report you are seeking and if you
do not have their written permission to access their report, there is
no possible way you may access that report.

You may, of course, ask homeowners whether you can access their
report. If they consent, you may access it that way.

CLUE is owned by ChoicePoint. You may read any information you're
looking for online. The link is
http://www.choicepoint.net/industry/insurance/pc_ins_up_2.html

Insure.com says homeowners can access a free copy of their own CLUE
report if they are denied insurance due to information contained in
that report. And in those cases, CLUE will notify the homeowners.

If you own a home but haven't been denied insurance due to information
in a CLUE report, you can also order a report on your home. You may
order a copy of the report from ChoicePoint.

I know this isn't the information you were hoping to hear, but I hope
it helps! If you need any clarification, please don't hesitate to ask.

This does not answer my question. I am aware that choicepoint
produces CLUE reports. I have been to their website. That was not
the question. The question was, is it possible to purchase access to
the CLUE report data like insurance companies do. And is it possible
to obtain the data without being the person the report is on. For
marketing purposes. I object to paying for the "answer" given.

Hello--

I'm sorry you don't believe I answered your question. However, I
believe I did in fact answer your stated question. Your question asked
whether you can buy a database or access information about people in
the CLUE database if you don't have the prospects' names. Was this
correct?

I answered that you cannot do this. An article in Insure.com states
this, "Unfortunately, you can't order a CLUE report if you are not the
homeowner. Prospective buyers aren't allowed to request a CLUE report
for a home they want to purchase. "But there's nothing stopping you
from asking the homeowner to provide you with a copy as a condition of
the sale," says Wilson. She believes such requests will become
commonplace in the very near future."

You may read about this at http://www.insure.com/home/pastclaims.html

If this, however, wasn't your question, please let me know what your
question was and I'll try to answer that, as well. I can only answer
what you post.

Researchers appreciate when question askers request a clarification
before rating an answer.

Please let me know if you need any other clarification. I'm happy to
help.

This does not answer my question. It merely gives information that
everyone already knows.

I think it is clear that the researcher DID answer the question. It
was just not the answer that the akser wanted to hear.
