I'm always buying books from Amazon, using their review system, their
book lists, "similar authors", "similar books", "book recommendations"
and I think they have a great system.

However, is there an even better way to find the best books in the
world on a special topic, through some other site on the Internet?

Maybe som smart AI site that matches your interests even better than
Amazon can with it's "recommendations"?

Maybe some book community with advanced review systems leading to very
high quality opinions about books?

I'm mostly into science/self-help/creativity/philosophy if that has
any bearing on the answer.

Hi omnitemm,

Good day and thanks for your question.

Apparently, Amazon is the *best* site to find books which match your
interest. You asked whether there is some cool AI site which can match
books with your interests. AI is however in its infant stage and much
of AI depends on human input.

The Amazon website lists recommendations based on user ratings and
purchases, with more weight being given to a user who has purchased
the book. I guess all of us would prefer suggestions from "humans"
rather than machines using AI which give results with very little
accuracy. After all, all the AI data comes from human beings.

However, I would suggest you try other sites as well, such as :

http://www.barnesandnoble.com
http://www.ebay.com/
http://www.abebooks.com/
http://www.powells.com/
http://www.bookbyte.com/
http://www.bookfinder.com/

I hope this answers your question. If you have any clarifications,
please don't hesitate to ask

Thank you for using this service and have a nice day

Warm regards,
aditya2k

Only one thing: Where can I find books cheaper than amazon?

Optimal strategy would be to go into amazon and find the right book,
then go to the "book k-mart" and buy it.

There are a couple of "price comparison" sites like
http://www.addall.com and http://www.anybook4less.com/ I did a couple
of searches on the sites on on all occassions, Amazon was listed as
the store having the cheapest price.

amazon lists many sellers of "used" books on their website. Most of
these are not really used; they are publisher overstocks. they place
a "remainder mark" (a black felt tip line on the bottom of the book).
These
books are often 1/2 the price of a new book and are just good.
