In California, juvenile delinquents may be sent for a limited time to
live in group homes where they receive counseling services from a
mental health practitioner. So some psychologists or psych students
can find work as a "family liason counselor" treating kids who have
ward-of-the-court status.

I'm trying to find a _code of ethics_ governing how people working in
that sort of position are supposed to act. There are special
circumstances unique to the group home setting that don't seem to be
covered by the usual general guidelines for forensic psychology.

For instance, there are questions like: does a minor in a group home
have the right to refuse treatment? Does the mental health
practitioner need to get informed consent, and from whom - with regard
to treatment options and confidentiality issues? How long should one
keep progress notes on a kid being evaluated?

I'm looking to find a document that concisely discusses issues of that
sort.

You are asking sensitive questions, that administrators avoid, as
sneaky lawyers will accuse them of not following their own guidelines
and rules. You wouldn't be a lawyer, would you? Few people trust
lawyers. Some will deliberately distroy evidence that lawyers are
asking for. Neil
