Hello,

I'm a member of www.zagat.com and they only charge $2.50 a month to
view their restaurant listings and scores. They're widely considered
the best food review critics, and they have a "Top by Cuisine" for
each locale. I selected New York, and the results returned were
extensive. It would be a violation of their terms of service and
Google Answers' to copy/paste the list verbatim, but using their lists
as a reference I can give you the top listing from each genre of food,
and I've phone checked each to make sure they're open Christmas Day.
After calling 100 or so restaurants, many were closed though so in
cases they were not open I just went one down the list, but they're
all top 5 from their catagory. Most told me however should I want to
dine on Christmas Day I should make a reservation NOW. Enjoy and have
a wonderful Christmas.

I called 10 Greek, 10 Italian, 11 Japanese, 6 Mediterranian, all 37
were closed Christmas Day. I hope the above listings were sufficient
though. If you wish, you can search some more by registering for
subscription with zagat.com for just $2.50 a month, and you can cancel
at any time. It's a great resource to have as they also have a section
for reader opinions and votes, so you get a broader view of a
restaurant, not just one critic's opinion. This was a fabulous
question to answer as I'm thinking of taking a very special lady out
for Christmas din-din as well, so if you see a frog in a red cape,
come over and say hi. Thank you for letting me help you with your
question.
