Question ID: 113338
I have a 17 inch color monitor Samsung SAMSTRON 7c en Via tech
VT8361/VT8601 Graphics Controller.

While looking at the screen (no matter what I am looking at Outlook,
Explorer, MS Works, Control Panel--- I can easily perceive a flutter
or wave that moves from the top to the bottom of the screen. The icons
in the bottom multi-task tray can be seen to up a little and to the
right, then down a little and to the left.

How can I get rid of this or do I have to just live with it and the
monitor?

Help please, as we are all going a bit wacky because of it.

Hello pendleton,

May I ask you to try something to
help diagnose this problem, if you
are near the monitor in question.

Can you try moving the monitor as
far as possible from the current
physical location, and check to see
if the wobble reduces or changes
character slightly.

Also, try it facing in
different directions to normal.

Let us know the results, it will
assist in a diagnosis.

Best regards,

gan.

The CPU was sitting right next to the monitor, so before I could move
the monitor I had to move the CPU. THAT FIXED IT!!!!!

Paste your comment into the answer box and I will give you the 5-star
rating and your $2.00. Yeh!!!

FYI----Aside-- ganga in Spanish is nice slang for "WHAT A DEAL!"

God bless you to know and do His will joyfully!

Hello John,

I'm glad my query resulted in your finding
a solution! Thank you for inviting me to
furnish an explanation.

Your problem appears to have been caused by
electromagnetic interference. Rearranging
your equipment has, it appears, changed the
form of the electromagnetic field around your
monitor, thereby improving the situation.

A very good page of information concerning this
issue is located at:

Solving the Mystery of Screen Interference:
http://www.fms-corp.com/computer-service.htm

Search strategy:
Existing knowledge, plus search for a page I
remembered, using the following searchterm on Google:
monitor flicker cause emi interference

I hope you find the above information interesting;
if you need any further information please ask.

Best regards,

gan.

Way to go! As I wrote, when I moved the CPU which was right next to
the monitor and "wave" quit. Makes sense.

Thanks for great, fast work!
God bless you to know and do His will!
