Hello,
presumably you want just free (U.S.) services,
or perhaps subscription based too?
regards
lot-ga

Mostly the information I need is in a specific industry (Critical
Care, Intensivists, Intensive Care, ICU's, Hospital Costs, etc.) It
doesn't matter if free or subscription based as long as the info is
complete and thorough. Although FREE IS ALWAYS BETTER :)

Hi icudoc!

I'm glad I looked to see if you had clarified what you're looking for
before posting an answer!

I spent a couple hours testing and reviewing news tickers for you,
then saw that you're looking for highly specific information.
Revising my search to find *only* health and medical information
tickers proved unsuccessful, but several of the standard tickers I
reviewed do include Health and Science categories.

If the standard tickers will suffice, please let me know, and I'll be
glad to post my research for you. If they do not, perhaps another
Researcher will be able to find specialized tickers for you.

icudoc...

I personally use a service which serves my needs by
emailing results to me. It monitors the internet for
pages containing whatever terms you specify, and also
monitors web pages, specified by you, for change.

"Are you a researcher? A publisher? A marketer? If you
are in any occupation that depends on timely, accurate
information you will know how difficult and time
consuming it can be to find and to stay on top of the
wealth of new material published every day on the web.
Automating the process of information gathering and
management can both save you money and give you a
 strategic advantage over your competitors."

"Thats where ******* comes in. ******* is your
personal early warning system and assistant. Every
day we scan thousands of articles published on news
sites, online trade journals and e-zines looking for
new matches for your information requests."

"For as little as $4 per month, you get:

e-mail alerts within as little as 15 minutes of new
articles being published that contain your search
 term(s).
custom news feeds for publication on your web site
or weblog. Any topic. Any time.
your personal list of sites to be monitored for
 changes.
notice of new listings of your search term on news
 groups and major search engines."

"Below is an email notification received by a user
who was monitoring for news articles matching the
 query "americans with disabilities act"."

If this is all that is available, yes it would suit my needs. I would
prefer it "pushed" to a browser but it doesn't sound like anything is
that specific to my needs. Thanks.

Icudoc...

I can guarantee that if missy-ga spent a couple of
hours reviewing what's out there, then it likely
doesn't exist in the format you'd prefer.

The service I'm suggesting was originally known as
"The Informant", and was based at Dartmouth College.
It has since merged with TracerLock, at this site:
http://www.tracerlock.com/

Their pricing description page notes the following:

"Single term: $48/year
 5 terms: $19.50/month

All terms can be changed at any time and as often
 as you wish.
All terms can be single words, phrases, or boolean
 queries."
http://www.tracerlock.com/pricing-description.html

TracerLock, while it does not 'push' information to
your browser, does offer a browser toolbar. The
advanced version allows you to enter 10 keywords,
in addition to the search terms from your paid
account, and highlights these terms in every page
you visit. An icon is provided with the toolbar
which notes the number of matches on each page
which match your terms. This makes it simple to
scan large pages and documents quickly.
The toolbar also allows instantaneous
interaction with your TracerLock profile, making it
easy to make changes to your account as needed.

Also noted on that page is their free trial offer:
"You can sign up for a free trial of the Standard
service for 30 days with no obligation to
subscribe at the end of the trial period. Only
one free trial is permitted for each user."
The Standard service offers only one search term,
whereas the Premium service offers five.

I realize it will be difficult for you to rate this
answer before you test this service to see how well
it fits your needs. If I can be of further assistance,
please feel free to post a request for clarification.
