Hi johnbat,
I'm about to do something Google researchers hate to do (sometimes it
annoys questioners, and it's just plain not as satisfying) - answer a
question in the negative. But, after spending a couple of hours
looking into your question, I have concluded that it cannot be
answered - at least not quite the way you had anticipated.
You probably already know that "Daniel Deronda", George Eliot's
(pseudonym for novelist Marian Evans) novel published in 1876, is a
lengthy Victorian work with two distinct "parts". Half of it tells the
story of impoverished beauty Gwendolen Harleth and her campaign to win
a rich husband, the unlikeable Grandcourt. Gwendolen gains her prize
only to become the object of his withering scorn in a hellish marriage
(as summarized in a Sight and Sound website):

The other half of the novel advocates for the creation of a Jewish
state in Palestine. Zionism was portrayed in "Daniel Deronda" as a
force which would represent in Palestine a shining bastion of the
enlightened West amid the "despotism of the East". (That observation
is made in a thought-provoking website called "IN THE MIDDLE EAST
CONFLICT" created by Justine Ellis, Eric Kapenga, Jessica McPherson,
Kent Mitchell, and Seth Munson.)

In fact, Edward Alexander, in a website article called "Enduring
Fictions", notes that a street is named after Eliot in each of
Israel's three major cities.

Here's the rub. There was not, per my extensive research, a British
television series made of "Daniel Deronda" in the 60's or 70's. There
was, however, a 1965 BBC radio presentation, broadcast in three parts.
It was written for radio by Robert Forrest, and stars Anna Chancellor
as Gwendolen Harleth. Other performers were Michael Perceval-Maxwell,
James Bryce, Mark McDonnell and Finlay Welsh. It was directed by
Patrick Rayner.

Should you wish to purchase a copy of this radio dramatization (either
abridged or unabridged), you can find it here at Amazon.com (be
forewarned, this is a rare item and a little pricey in the unabridged
format):

If you don't already, you should also know that there is a new version
of DD which aired last Saturday on BBC One Television:

If you have further questions about my answer, please ask for a
clarification before rating it. I'll be happy to follow up with you.
Happy Thanksgiving!
