Before discovering the information in my comment, I tried various phrases to find his complete birth date. Interestingly, I decided to search him tonight in the Library of Congress and while I discovered no works on dance (nor the film mentioned above) , I did find seven titles at http://catalog.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?Search_Arg=Williams%2C+Ned&Search_Code=NAME_&PID=11638&CNT=25&BROWSE=3&HC=7&SID=2 concerning the Black country of Great Britain. The birthdate of the author, Ned Williams, is the same as the man featured in the film provided in my comment. I then searched "Ned Williams" combined with the publisher of the books, Uralia Press, to find further information, perhaps even an interview or biography. There may have been two Ned Williams, both born in 1944 - one that was in the dance film and the other that wrote on "the Black Country" in Great Britain. Or they may be the same individual. A search for "the black country" turned up the books' synopses at http://www.theblackcountry.com/publishers/uralia.htm with an enail for a Ned Williams. It may be my research on this will cause more confusion that clarity but I wanted you to know this additional information. There is an email address nedwilliams@theblackcountry.com that may help to clear up this mystery. Also, I revisited my original link and discovered what seems to be an another dance video at that site that features Ned Williams explained at http://js-catalog.cpl.org:60100/MARION/AJD-3925. I hope this information is of assistance in your quest and thank you for honoring my research time. It is a gracious gesture you have offered me and it is quite unexpected. Hi Journalist, I can't help but admire your tenacity. I am somewhat surprised that Ned is so elusive, due to his having taught since the 60's. But what can we say. Research surprises us sometimes. But your skills are undimmed & I'm grateful you're willing to use them on my behalf. I have 2 subjects that I thought you might find without such a major effort. June Taylor was born around 1918 and was quite famous with her troupe on the Jackie Gleason show in the 50's. Her signature camera shot was from overhead, a la Busby Berkely from the '30's, where the dancers resemble geometric patterns of a kalaidoscope. She later worked as choreographer for the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders. Also Phil Black, dancer. Neither of these 2 have gotten so much as a single comment. You'd have them to yourself! My attempts to tempt are pathetic. Anyway, I truly appreciate your helping me. Bluestreak |

From a search of "Ned Williams Dunham technique" I discovered his birth year (1944) but not the month and day: http://js-catalog.cpl.org:60100/MARION/ADQ-6159 to http://js-catalog.cpl.org:60100/MARION?A=WILLIAMS+NED to http://js-catalog.cpl.org:60100/MARION/AJD-3893 Thought you might could use this to somehow pin down the month and day. |

Excellent work, journalist! Thank you. Do the best you can for a day or so longer between your other searches. If nothing further turns up, we'll call it a hit. Again, thank you so very much. Bluestreak |
