Hello sunjet2-ga,
Almost all colleges in the US have a career center that helps students
plan for their work and career or graduate school. They provided
one-on-one and group counseling, workshops on all topics dealing with
career exploration and job search and a wide array of other resources.
Look for Career Center in the colleges printed catalog and on the Web
site. If its not listed at the top level look for it under Student
Services. You will be pleasantly surprised by the range of services
offered. Ive collected a few examples to give you a better idea of
what youre looking for. I urge you to visit your current (or
prospective) schools career center to orient yourself to all they
have to offer. Good luck in your career planning.

I am a current student at a state school. For an English project I
decided to develop a mandatory class for my advertising department
that helps students with pre-graduation elements such as finding jobs,
building resumes, interview techniques, finding graduate
schools...etc. this class will help students find a direction once
they graduate college. I'm finding that a lot of students are
experiencing troubles onces they graduate...they are unsure what they
want to do when they get out of school, unsure how to look for jobs,
or where to apply to graduate school, this course will work with the
students directly so they don't run into these problems when they
graduate. My questions is, are there any schools across the country
that offer a MANDATORY class like this, not a career center. This
course if worth 3 credits and must be taken before the student
graduates.

Hello sunjet2-ga,
I'm sorry you rated my answer before giving me a chance to answer your
request for clarification. Your clarification changes the scope of the
question significantly. As I understand it, you want to find a 3 unit
course that's a prerequisite for graduation. I'll see what I can come
up with.

Hello sunjet2-ga,
There are innumerable resources available on the Web to help you
develop the course you propose. Every colleges career center offers
these courses in some shape or form. You can get course descriptions
from the catalogs. Although you think it would be a good idea to have
a graduation requirement of a 3 unit career exploration/job search
course, colleges have not taken this approach. Most of the career
exploration classes are one unit credit classes. Job search related
classes tend to be offered through the career centers as short
workshops. You might want to explore why colleges have taken this
approach instead of going with the multi-unit required course that you
think would be a good idea.
Here are some links to help you get started. Good luck with your
proposed class.

CSM Course Caltalog Career and Life Planning
There are 10+ courses in this department, all of them for credit. CRER
120, College and Career Success is a 3 unit course that covers
self-assessment, decision making, careerplanning and more. It is not a
prerequisite to graduation. Some of the other courses in this program
cover career choices and career growth and offer varied academic
units.
Many schools offer courses in various aspects of career exploration
and jobs search. These tend to be 1 unit courses. Heres a sampling:

Job search and workplace preparation classes (interviewing, resumes,
cover letters, research, etc.) tend to be non-credit but are readily
available through career services. Again, heres a sampling:
