dear researchers, we are in the midst of setting up a freebsd box that will pretty much be up and connected all the time. we are new at this and we a learning a LOT of stuff. the following link (http://draenor.org/securebsd/secure.txt) has many suggestions that we are looking at to help us secure our box. a google search on 'securing freebsd' got that page for us. we are still working our way through the dreanor.org text, but in the meantime, we would like a quick and dirty search for links of other good pages/sites and or text, etc. thank you in advance for your kind attention! | |

A good place to start is through the FreeBSD people: http://www.freebsd.org/security/ http://people.freebsd.org/~jkb/howto.html The FreeBSD page has several links for security topics: http://www.free-x.ch/ There is info on the "FreeBSD Hardening" Project: http://www.watson.org/fbsd-hardening/ "The goal of the FreeBSD Hardening Project is to develop a set of modifications to the base FreeBSD system that, when applied, allow for a far more secure environment." FreeBSD Operating System Security Checklist http://sddi.net/FBSDSecCheckList.html More links and info at: http://www.freebsd.peon.net/ |
