The contents of the answer were exactly what I asked for but I thought
it could have been a bit more diverse.  The list includes more actors
and entertainers then people involved in other fields.  I should have
been more specific about what I meant by "famous." The great thing is
that you gave me your sources so I can continue the reserch on my own
and the way you phrased your search helped me to better understand how
I might find what I am looking for more easily.  All in all I was
satified with what you came up with.

There are lots and lots and lots of famous Jewish people. One site
that lists the "Jewishness" of many celebrities is www.jewhoo.com. For
athletes, try jewsinsports.org. I also recommend the book "The Jewish
100" by Michael Shapiro.
