Hello jackih,
How kind of you to be concerned about your father-in-laws cheeks!
Three years ago, after suffering blood clots, my husband had to be put
on anti-coagulants. The doctors told me, shortly after his admission
to the hospital, to buy him an electric razor, as he could no longer
risk bleeding from nicks and cuts. Knowing nothing about electric
shavers, I bought the model that looked nice, a Panasonic. My
husband was unhappy about using an electric shaver in the first place,
and he was very unhappy with the first one. Shortly after, he bought
himself a second shaver, a Norelco. It too fell short of his
expectations.
We researched shavers online about 6 months ago, and he settled on the
Braun 7526. We wanted a model that worked well, and was
environmentally correct - no batteries. I was skeptical of the extra
bells and whistles, but
it turned out to be a wonderful shaver, and
my husband is very happy with it. It has a high RPM, self charges in
its own cleaning/charging unit, and is relatively quiet.(Turns out
having more RPMs does affect performance) My husband has a somewhat
wrinkled face, and a significantly wrinkled neck, and the shaver does
a terrific job, with no cuts or nicks. He does however, shave
everyday, due to a thick beard. If your father-in-law has a light
beard, he may get away with every-other-day shaving.
The biggest problem he had with the first two shavers was that the
heads and screens wore out quickly and were expensive to replace. The
Braun has outlasted all of them. The feature that we both like is the
self-cleaning function. You buy a disposable unit filled with cleaner,
snap it into the unit, and the shaver cleans and recharges
automatically. My poor husband can be technology-challenged at times,
and he has no problems maintaining or operating this unit. He gets a
good comfortable shave.
