i am looking for a computer desk solution that i can place adjacent to
this couch where the desktop computer would be in the base, and the
keyboard & LCD monitor would be on a swivel, so you could swing the
keyboard infront of you as you sit on the couch...yet push it to the
side for watching TV, etc. a picture below shows where i would like to
place this desk (it's a dark pic sorry):

i'd like this to be a quality piece of furniture...not a cheap metal
solution...

hi boardman27,
I can offer you a solution whereby you can add a "swivable" attachment
for your mouse, keyboard, and monitor (e.g. like those swivable wall
brackets for tvs+vcr). The products I am referring to are purposely
made to sivel, and can be attached to a horizontal surface (i.e a
desktop). They are ergonically designed for computers and peripherals,
and can move up, down, left & right. It is not quite a desk per se,
but a solution along the line you describe. If you are interested in
this possibility, let me know.

If possible, i would like to find a whole solution. i understand your
suggestion...yet it would be nice to find a desk that has enough
weight in the base & also has the swivel solution in one unit. thank
you - dave

okay, thanks for clarifying that point.

I have found two similar types of desks that may be suitable:

1) This is the more expensive one. From the picture you can see that
it has a swivable pull-out piece for extra writing space (right side
of picture where the keyboard rests). This piece has wheels beneath
for manoevreability. The CPU would fit in the base as shown in the
picture, and the monitor and keyboard could be placed on the said
piece (except that you would probably have to move the monitor onto
the top of the desk when you are finished)

2) This desk solution is along the same lines as above, but perhaps is
not as convenient as No.1, and not as good looking. The pull-out piece
looks like it may also be too high for you (?)

For comparison purposes, here are the attachments that could be used
if you were to go along with my original suggestion.

Let me know if this is a possible solution.

boardman27...
I use a solution which might work for you, as well.
A small table sits to the right of the chair, which
has 2 levels, and holds computer accessories and
necessities such as a coaster, pens, etc.
The CPU sits on the floor, in front of the table,
with its top essentially even with the table, and
serves to provide additional space. Also it sits
so that the front panel is accessible to insert
CDs and DVDs, as it is past the front of the chair.
The monitor then sits on a rolling cart. The surface
of the cart on which the monitor sits is a few inches
above the floor, and the screen is angle upwards, so
I am looking down at the screen, with no need to
crane my neck upwards to see it. This promotes easy
viewing and good posture. It also means that the
monitor does not interfere with my view of the room.
It can be easily rolled out of the way, but it is
seldom in the way enough for me to move it.

Let me know if this satisfies your needs, and I'll
post it as an answer.
