The HP site refers you to the owner's manual, which can
be downloaded in pdf file format here:
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/manualCategory.jhtml?reg=&cc=&pagetype=manual&prodId=hpjornada563928&sw_lang=en&lc=en&docparent=11800410
From the pdf manual for the 560 series:
"CompactFlash cards provide a wide range of additional
functionality, such as additional memory, removable
storage, connection to an external monitor, connection
to a network, and modems. Many cards have been tested
specifically for use with the hp Jornada. For a list
of recommended cards, visit the hp Web site at
www.hp.com/jornada [Researcher's note - this page no
longer exists]
...Your hp Jornada supports CompactFlash Type I and
Type I extended cards.
Before you can use a particular card, you must have
a driver for that card. Your hp Jornada includes
drivers for many popular cards, and others are
included on the Pocket PC Companion CD. If you cannot
find a driver for your card on the CD, the software
drivers for the Microsoft Windows for Pocket PC
operating system should be available from the cards
manufacturer. Install software drivers as you would
install any other software or program. For more
information, see Adding or Removing Programs,
earlier in this chapter.
To install a CompactFlash card
1. Remove the dummy card from the CompactFlash card slot.
2. If the card is a Type I extended card, remove the
CompactFlash door.
3. Align the card as shown in the diagram, and push
it into the slot until it clicks into place."
The Kingston company's site lists your 256MB flash
card on this page, and notes the following:
"Supports the latest operating systems and supporting
software applications including Windows® XP, Windows®
2000, Windows® 95, Windows® 98, Windows® NT, Macintosh®
OS and OS/2 Warp."
http://www.kingston.com/products/cf.asp
Moreover, Kington's driver download page does not list
a driver for Windows for Pocket PC for the flash memory
cards:
http://www.kingston.com/support/downloads/default.asp
There is a link for a contact page:
http://www.kingston.com/support/newtechsupportform.asp
Presumably, however, this means that you can use a generic
driver for a 256MB compact flash card, which, as the pdf
manual notes: "are included on the Pocket PC Companion CD"
or are already loaded onto the unit. This suggests that you
follow the instructions for Adding or Removing Programs",
as noted above in the pdf manual.
You would know more about that process, since I do not own
a Jornada, however, since the process is likely similar to
MS Windows, you would likely have a window that lists the
devices installed on your PDA, and be able to select
"update driver" or "add new device". A look at the help
files for Active Sync should help you with this.
Since HP's default page for listing compatible accessories
is no longer functional [ www.hp.com/jornada ] I was unable
to verify that your unit will accept a 256MB flash card,
however, it is possible that newer drivers are included in
the HP's 13MB update package, available for download here:
