What is the cost to chemically descale a 2000-gallon boiler and a
1000-galloon water cooling tower. I would prefer that you provide the
cost for "chemical" descaling. Thanks

My chemistry professor has related many chemistry reactions to the
problem of scale buildup, and generally, it is a much better idea to
prevent scale buildup in the first place rather than try to remove the
scale once it has built up. Softening water to get rid of calcium is
much more effective than attempting to remove scale. It is likely that
a boiler element would have to be replaced or descaled yearly for a
home or much more often in the environment you describe. Therefore, it
is not cost effective to de-scale the element itself.

A lot of governments, municipalities, state entities, counties, etc.,
in the southwest use products manufactured by National Chemsearch,
(NCH), http://www.nch.com/ to chemically descale huge air conditioning
and water tower units.

Perhaps getting in touch with their technical people at their Irving,
Texas headquarters will give you an idea of what's needed and
therefore, a ballpark figure on what the cost would be.

Their phone number and contact information is on their Website under
"Contact".

At least it's a place to start.

Thanks...I've already been to NCH though. Ther must be some standard
somewhere that gives some sort of figures concerning my question!

Can any of you help me out? Assume that there is a svcale problem
with a boiler. There are two major ways to descale the
boiler...mechanical and chemical. Lets assume that we are looking at
a chemical descaling project. What is that cost? Please help! asap
