Capability Maturity Model is?

looked through many sites and the best explanation I found (both
simple and detailed) is at:

Details: This PDF document contains very easy-to-understand language
without glossing over any important points. The first three pages will
be of special interest, but the rest of the document also contains
several useful ideas and studies around CMM.
