Hi Monreale,

I've found a clue that Art Pepper did attend high school, but I can't
nail down an actual name at present. I do have an e-mail out to his
wife to see if she might have some information for me, but considering
that it's the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, I don't anticipate getting an
answer today or maybe not even for a few days, if at all. I've
narrowed down where he lived as a child and will pursue that, as well.
I just wanted you to know that someone was working on your question
and the status of the research to date.

Regards,
revbrenda1st

According to "Straight Life: The Story of Art Pepper," by Art and
Laurie Pepper (Schirmer, 1979) Pepper spent some time at Fremont High
School and San Pedro High School in Los Angeles an and around 1941.
The context of the references seems to make it clear that he didn't
graduate and ended up the army, but no dates are given.
