1. Where can I download/license a clinical drug database that I can
run on my PC? I'm looking for something similar to an application
called qRX from this company called EPocrates. They, however, seem to
only have a version of this for the Palm Pilot. Specifically, I want
to be able to check for multiple drug interactions from my PC. qRX is
similar to the electronic versions of the Physician's Desk Reference
and Tarascon's Pharmacopoeia.

2. I'm also interested in downloading/licensing a database of
medications that I can run from my PC. Where can I find this?

Are you looking for a free download or are you willing to pay for one
if necessary? Also, is it a PDR (Physicians Desk Reference) you are
seeking?

Hello kanhai,

I was unable to find any free downloadable drug databases for desktop
PCs, especially with the scope of a PDR or qRx. Since in your
clarification you said you would be willing to purchase the database
if a free on was unavailable, I’ve included the following programs. I
feel the prices are reasonable for the quality of information on these
CD-ROMs. ( # 4 is downloadable, the rest are on CD-ROM)

1)
This 9,000 page CD-ROM, (for Windows only) “The PDR Electronic
Library contains the full text of the 2002 Physicians' Desk
ReferenceŽ, PDR for Nonprescription Drugs and Dietary Supplements™,
and PDR for Ophthalmic Medicines™, as well as PDR Drug Interactions
and Side Effects™.” $99.95 (USD) Contact MICROMEDEX at 1-800-446-8380
for Academic or law enforcement use.

2)
The Mosby Drug Consult is presented primarily as a soft-cover book,
but the CD-ROM included has a full drug database.
The Mosby’s Drug Consult, 12th Edition, $69.95 (USD) is accompanied
by a CD with a full drug database, drug interaction tool, and patient
education sheets. About the book:
“Mosby's Drug Consult provides the most current, unbiased, accurate,
and reliable drug information available! Streamlined for ease of use,
it features nearly 3000 pages of complete, objective drug information
on more than 900 complete generic entries and many more prescription
drug products.”

information database and 7 others
