To fill in some details; according to the US Patent Office: http://www.uspto.gov The mentioned patent (1794290) is indeed for a butter mold, patented Feb. 24, 1931 by Guildford R. Harrild (note the spelling of the last name) of Yakima, Washington. For whatever it is worth, here are two auction prices of (undated, etc.) butter molds: http://www.easyautomart.com/ExChange/AuctionReviews.asp?ArticleID=99 "... a large butter mold, $45 ..." http://www.appletreeauction.com/udef_catalog_details.cfm?CatalogID=10 June 2001 antique auction " ... WOODEN BUTTER MOLD--$40.00 ..." And from: http://www.kovels.com/ "Mold Butter, 12 Houses Shape, Gray Scrubbed, 29 1/2 In. $75.00" |
