I am looking for Newbury Fruits; they are liquid centres [non
alcoholic] jellies, probably made in Belgium /Holland or Germany.
They come in 2 box sizes. The flavors are
strawberry/raspberry/lime/lemon/blackcurrant/orange.
They seem to have disappeared into thin air, but we all like them very
much. Where can I find them?

Initial search using "newbury fruits" turned up nothing. However,
"newberry fruits" turned up promising results. Is this what you're
actually looking for?

Hello Diane - I know which sweets you mean and when I read your
question, I realised I haven't seen them in the shops recently. I've
made a few inquiries, but no luck so far. One place I phoned tells me
they had the fruit jellies until recently - but sadly they are now out
of stock. They will phone me back if they can get them from a
different wholesaler.
While we continue searching for a supplier for you, would you be happy
to tell us which part of the country you're in, in case we can't find
anyone who'll do mail order?
For extra proof that they're still around, I've found them included in
a Christmas hamper. However, it costs £130 - a bit steep for 200 grams
of fruit jellies!

You most probably are thinking of New Berry Fruits. These always
appeared in huge quantities round Christmas time in the UK during my
childhood.

I'm afraid I have disappointing news, hence enter this as a comment
rather than as a paid answer.

New Berry Fruits were a brand of the Meltis company, which went
bankrupt in 1996 http://www.mintel-iis.com/inprdemo/INPR/HL/0/INPR_09_1996/17.html.
The brand was taken over by Ryne Quality Confectionery, a member of
the John Lusty Group. The John Lusty Group went into receivership in
May 2002 http://www.tricerapops.co.uk/new_page_1.htm ;
http://www.businessweekly.co.uk/news/view_article.asp?article_id=6612

These events probably account for the disappearance of New Berry
Fruits.

Hi, they are for sale in my local shop - "Roots" in the High Street,
Wallington, Surrey, they are made by Meltis and are called "Newberry
Fruits"

If Lusty/Ryne only went bust in May of this year, it is quite likely
that some places will still have a bit of stock left.

At one point, Crosstalk (a US company) was considering buying Lusty
out, but this fell through. The company went down with more than £8
million in debts. The New Berry trade mark does not appear to have
been sold to anyone else.

Hello

If you are referring to 'Terrys York Fruits' the brand has been bought
by Kraft Foods.. I saw them on the supermarket shelf the other week in
Safeway or was it Sainsbury's? (we shop at many places) labelled as
Kraft.

I tried to locate a picture of York Fruits, only one I could find was
part of a hamper
