I have seen a film and I would love to get hold of it. I don't know
much about it, but ...

It is a film about tango.
I think it is Spanish.
It's set in a hotel, and there is very very little dialogue, and a lot
of tango routines.
It is in colour.
One of the male characters has a very strange face!
I think the name of the film is "Le Baille" but I can't find anything
with that spelling, or any other similar ones.

Anyone know which film I'm on about?

Dear Scriptor,

Many thanks ... however, none of the links you give are VHS PAL, which
is what I need as I live in the UK.

Can you help me find VHS PAL (or DVD which works in the UK) ? ... then
I'll be happy to pay for your answer!!

Simon.

Dear simontrumpet,

I can hardly believe it myself, but I finally managed to locate a PAL
VHS of "Le Bal". The source is a bit exotic, but not dubious:
Merlin.pl, one of the greatest Polish online stores for CDs, VHSs and
DVDs, offers it:

http://www.merlin.com.pl/sklep/sklep/strona.glowna?str=tow259444&skad=LGokB79sF5

The price, excluding shipping costs, is 44.50 Zloty, which equals
approximately 7.25 Pounds currently.

To order the movie, you need to click the "dodaj do koszyka" in the
yellow box on the right side of the website. On the following page,
continue by scrolling down a bit and then clicking the green button
with the arrow and the words "Do kasy" (to the checkout).
As a new customer, you are then asked to create an account. The form
fields mean the following:
"imie" = first name, "nazwisko"= family name, "e-mail" should be
claer, "haslo" = password, "potwierdzenie hasla" = confirm password.
Having done so, you reach the address form. Here, the form fields you
need to fill are:
"nazwa adresu" = kind of address - type "adres domowy" here to make
clear that this is your private residential address, "imie" = first
name, "nazwisko"= family name, "ulica" = street, "nr domu" = house
number, "miasto" = town, "kod" = postal code, "kraj" = country -
choose "WIELKA BRYTANIA" in the pull-down menu. Then click the green
"Dalej" button below, and do that again on the following page, too.
You then have the opportunity to choose a shipping option; the more
expensive, the faster (theoretically). Again, click "Dalej".
You are now taken to a page displaying your complete order and the
shipping cost. Confirm by clicking the big green "Place" button below.
The next step is choosing the payment method. You will have to pay
either with Visa or Mastercard, there is no other way, alas. Please
click the big green "on-line" button (the one on top of the list).
Finally, enter your credit card data and confirm by clicking "Place".
Your order should be placed now.

Hope this helps.

I located two movies with the title "El Baile"

El Baile - 1999
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0219523

El Baile - 1959
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0052598

Could it be one of those?

no, but you got me searching on a different angle ... and found it! It's known as:

"El Baile", "Le Bal" and "Ballando ballando", and directed by Ettore Scola.

Next step is to find out how to get hold of a copy ... no luck yet!!
