The Picpus Cemetery is buried deep in the twelfth arrondissement. It
was a peaceful convent with a large garden but was confiscated in the
name of the Republic and converted into a "House of Health and
Detention". The cemetery is the final burial place for many of the
slaughtered victims of the guillotine during the French Revolution.
