can you post the site URL so that we can see what the error is and
help you out?

URLs are the web address.. just like http://answers.google.com is the
URL for Google Answers, we need where you are attempting to go to view
your friends doll collections.

Thanks!

Hi jlrrn,

I maintain one of these little dollmaker sites myself, and to my
undying chagrin, it can only be viewed in Internet Explorer, 5.0 or
greater. The problem lies with the Drag and Drop JavaScript used to
create such sites - layering doesn't work quite right with Opera,
Netscape or Mozilla. This page relies heavily on JavaScript, making
it nearly impossible to view in anything but IE.

To access your friend's site, use Internet Explorer to go to
http://maxpages.com/dollmagic/ , and let the site load completely.

To create dolls yourself, use the drop down menu to select the sorts
of features you want, then drag each part into the white frame, line
them up, and save the doll when you're finished.

To view dolls others have made, let the page load completely, then
scroll to the alphabet listing at the bottom. Click on the first
letter of your friend's name, and wait - the site is very graphics
heavy and may take a minute to load. Once it's loaded, you'll be able
to scroll through the galleries listed in that section to find your
friend's.

Hope this helps!

Hi again,

Let's try it another way...

What's your friend's name? I'll see if I can find her specific
gallery for you.

Also, in Internet Explorer, go to Help, then About Internet Explorer,
and check what version you're running. If it's under 5.0, you'll need
to update it here:

Internet Explorer - Mac OS 8.1 and higher

missy-ga, i didn't realize you'd still be on this morning--I'm just
getting used to Google Answers! I have Internet Explorer 5.2 and Imac
osx--(10.2), so i should be able to log on, shouldn't I? I get up to
where the "instructions" click is on maxpages.com/dollmagic--but
nothing happens when i click "instructions". I sure my little
friend's mother would not appreciate me using her daughter's name on
the internet --as much as she wants me to see her dolls. I get no
help from maxpages.com support. I promise a tip if I ever get on the
site!!!! Sincerely, jlrrn-ga

Hi again,

Actually, I wasn't still on, I was on *again*. I have very odd sleep
habits! :)

Clicking the Instructions button would pop up a window telling you how
to make dolls. You can safely ignore that button. Just wait for the
rest of the page to load - there will be a white frame, and blue
buttons beneath. You'll need to scroll down. Are you on a dial up,
by chance? The page is slow to load on my cable connection, if you're
on a dial up it's going to be even slower.

Perhaps there is something in your security settings. (This is driving
me crazy, but will also help me design my own dollmaker better if we
can figure out why you can't get into this one.)

Try this: Tools--> Internet Options--> General. In the "Temporary
Internet Files" section, click "Delete files" (this will clear your
cache). Then go to Tools -->Internet Options --Security--> Set the
slider to Low, click Apply, then OK. Restart your browser and try
again. Let me know what happens. I'd really like to help you get
this sorted out!

Any luck? I'm poking around in the source code of the page and can't
find anything else there that might be keeping you out.

Do you have JavaScript enabled?

MISSY, I LOST ALL INTERNET ACCESS LAST NIGHT, TRYING TO GET ON
MAXPAGES.COM AND HAD TO WAIT FOR 6 AM TO CONTACT IMAC. THE TECH THERE
HAD THE VERY SAME PROBLEM AS I DID--SO I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO RESIGN
MYSELF TO GETTING COPIES OF THE AFORE SAID DOLLS FROM MY FRIEND WITH A
DELL PC. I MAC SAID THEY HAD "NO IDEA" WHY THE SITE WOULDN'T CONNECT
ON I MAC--BUT IT WON'T!

I AM GOING TO SEND YOU A TIP FOR ALL YOUR HELP--AND CHANGE YOUR ANSWER
TO 5 STAR IF POSSIBLE.. THANK YOU SINCERELY, JLRRN

jlrrn,

That's very kind of you to offer, but I couldn't accept it, even if
changing the rating were possible. I couldn't get you what you
needed!

I have, however, enjoyed working on this puzzle with you and hope
you'll come back to us in the future with new information and help
requests.

Best Regards,
