FOR SCAPARELLIFREUD PLEASE* (*if* she's recup'd from the gravy boat):

granny for some reason woke up singin' "Lil GTO" this morning (don't
ask!) this got her to thinking ... what was the most often sung about
vehicle?

Ford?
Chevy?
Mercedes Benz?
Cadillac?
International Harvester?

you know granny isn't one to hold your feet to the fire on your answer
but I'd like as many as possible (please, nothing too obscure). name
does not have to appear in song title, just in the lyrics. and if you
wouldn't mind explaining your search strategy like I'm a 3-year-old.
does one have to write some perl program for this type of thing? as
always, I can't pay a lot for this muffler, so I hope it's a fun
question to research.

thanks and cheers,
GB

I've been compiling a list of songs which mention Datsun, (since I am
into them) a list of them ( with audio clips) is here

a far from comprehensive answer, but its a start!

Hiya Granny!

Car songs! What's with them?!

I am SO, not a car person, that I invariably fail to make the car
connection in songs even when there is one.

"Mustang Sally" -- all these years I thought those Committments we're
singing about a girl and her pony. Stop laughing, I'm not kidding. :-)

"Long May You Run" -- was thinkin' how sweet is was that Neil Young
went through all those things together with some fine memorable
woman....ok so the "chrome and steel" thing confused me, but jeez ...
a car? Or maybe it was motorcycle. I don't know. Either way, Emmy Lou
sings this one way better than Neil himself. Check it out sometime.

Anyway, good luck on your quest for the car song tabulation. Am sure
our slip of a freudian will do it justice.

hi Will, and thanks for the Datsun tunes. didn't even know there were
any, but it's a dang fine car and should be sung about!

hey there, o knowlegeable one, don't know why folks sing about their
automobiles but they do in droves (waahh!) for the price I'm payin',
I'd better cut this back and just ask ... how would one go about
gathering this information all neat-like? and I'll also see your
"chrome and steel" (goin' to listen now) and raise you a Dave Dudley
"6 days on the road" (which is currently playin' in my head. must be
a road trip in granny's future.)

the freudian one (or anyone else available) will have to tell me if
this question is even possible since granny knows nothin' about
computerworld. still, it doesn't keep strange questions from poppin'
into her head. I'm guessin' Chevy will be the winner.

hope the pink one didn't fall face first into her punkin' pie.

thanks for stoppin', kids,
your ever curious granny B

Little Pink Riding Hood has been recuperating from a big bad wolf
attack, so I am hoping that someone (webadept-ga, where are you?) who
knows something about scripting will answer your interesting question.
In the meantime, here's a small goodie-basket for Granny.

And here's an entertaining essay from Weekly Wire about "Car Tunes":

Thank you for thinking pink, Granny. Here's hoping you'll get a nice
holiday goose.
