Problems in using wet wipes in daily life and steps that can be taken
to overcome these problems. I want atleast 10-15 examples of ways in
which these wet wipes have faults in them and solutions to these
faults. I do not want any marketing details or any statistics. An
example of a fault would be that the wet wipe was too wet and hence
leaves hands too moist or the fact that such wet wipes are non
biodegradable and other such problems with wet wipes and solutions to
them. The solutions are essential. Also articles by a "Colin White of
MCW technologies in UK" on this topic are important. I need the
answers by the 2nd of December(within 48hrs) otherwise, I dont need
it. And I dont want to be charged for it beyond that date. Please try
to answer as soon as possible. Thankyou.

Hi anks123-ga,

Can't find enough to answer your question, but this is a start and I'm
sure another researcher can take it from here.

Problem: Control of germs on wet wipes, filters, towels, baby diapers,
and apparel fabrics
How Antimicrobial Treatment Can Improve Nonwovens
Solution: Increasing the value and performance of nonwovens is
entirely feasible by incorporating the ĘGIS Microbe Shield (formerly
known as Sylgard) to control microbially related problems.

Problems range from control of germs on surgical nonwoven fabrics, to
control of microbial levels on wet wipes, filters, towels, baby
diapers, and apparel fabrics. Problems show up in the form of
degradation, defacement, odor, and health related problems.

Studies from University of Arizona showed that the highest
concentration of Streptococcus fecalis & Escherichia coli are found in
mops and sponges in the sink and kitchen areas. These cleaning aids
can become nest for growing pathogens that can in turns contaminate
surfaces and utensils that are used in food processing.
Industrial nonwoven wipes with an antimicrobial also help to protect
natural resources. EPA says the industrial laundries discharge more
than 13 million pounds of hazardous contaminants into public water
treatment every year and 80% of which comes from the wastewater of
laundered shop towels. Some of the contaminants include lead,
toluene, zinc and heavy metals that cause cancer and kill aquatic
life. Sewage plants reported in a survey to the EPA that their
facilities were clogged and damaged by these substances.
According to an EPA study conducted by Lockheed Martin Environmental
Services, industrial nonwoven wipes have an insignificant impact on
landfills, only 1% of the nations landfills waste. Instead, rental
shop towel s actually contributes 30% more waste to landfills that
nonwoven industrials wipes.
