Hi jumpoff-ga,
I have found several web pages that define the behavioral,
psychoanalytic, and client-centered or Rogerian approaches. I will
summarize them into basic definitions here, but you will probably want
to read the definitions on each of these pages. That way, you can
find the definitions that work best for you.
Behavioral: Focuses on changing troublesome behavior
Psychoanalytic: Focuses on helping a person to understand the
unconscious inner-conflicts that developed during childhood
Client-centered or Rogerian: Focuses on providing the client with an
empathetic atmosphere for sharing feelings
Each of the following pages has a distinct way of defining these
approaches, but they seem to have a lot in common.
