Dear king1077,

This is a very puzzling question. I searched the Ellis Island
immigration database, which has records for all immigrants arrinving
in New York between 1892 and 1924. There are many Mennes from the
Prussian province Westfalen, but not a single one of the given name
Ignatz (or Ignaz, which is an alternative spelling). This means either
that Ignatz Manne arrived in New York before 1892 or that he never
reached Ellis Island at all.

The only result of my research in genealogy databases is one Ignatz
Menne, born 18 January 1865 in Bühne, Westfalen, Catholic of belief.
His parents were Carl Menne and Theresia Menne, born Lippold. However,
there is no evidence that this certain Ignatz Menne ever emigrated to
the USA.

This seems to be a dead end. I will, of course, perform further
research, but I have the bad feeling that it will lead nowhere.

Best regards,
Scriptor

King and researchers --

A search of the NY Times index shows no death notice or crime story in
the 1890s for a Menne. Clara Menne, 165 E. 87th, died on July 11,
1902. In the same year a sale was also reported of the Menne Candy
Factory.

Intentional vanishing in the United States during this period was very
easy too. You'll see multiple questions posted to Google Answers
referring to name changes made by people, with very little trail in
the historical archives.

Best regards,

Omnivorous-GA
