Are there any Boston area organizations that would like the donation
of a used, but quite functional, under the counter dishwasher? Ideally
it is a charity, for a tax deduction, but if that is not available, it
would be nice to find at least some organization that will make use of
it. The organization would have to pick it up. I have already searched
the yellow pages for charities without success.

Hi corkypa,

What a generous offer!

I found a short list of battered women shelters in Boston. All have

While looking for soup kitchens, I came across this. I think it's
probably your best bet. These people might not need the dishwasher per
se, but you'll see from the write-up below that they have hundreds of
contacts with organizations who might. It's quite probable that they
can suggest a good home for your appliance. Give them a call. :)

Also on the page supra, you'll see a link to Globe Santa, which is one
of the Boston Globe's community services projects for the Greater
Boston area.
Click on the highlighted text "More about Globe Santa" to gain access
to pages of pertinent information. The people who run that programme
might give you an idea of how you can best donate the dishwasher.

I wish you well in this effort. Hopefully my suggestions will have a
positive outcome. I'd be interested in knowing how you make out with
this, but we aren't allowed direct communication with customers.
Perhaps you could use the 'Clarify Answer' to let us know?
