Just to confirm, you are looking to remove a Win2k Pro box from a
domain and have it operate as a stand-alone workstation?

Is that correct?

I want to delete a domain that has been created twice on a single
workstation (ie. a domain called December added twice, and I want to
delete one of the December domains. How do I do this?

Ok, just so I understand: when you go to logon, you see:

December (Domain)
December (Domain)
Workgroup (Local Machine)

Right?

When logged on as administrator (which is me) or as any other user on
that particular workstation, when you go to Network Places, then
entire network, there are two domains called decemeber. One of those
domains contains all users, the other (which is the one that needs to
be deleted), contains nothing. When I double click that domain, it
refuses to do anything because "a domain called december is already
connected." I need to find out how to delete this domain. I'm sorry
I'm not much help in describing my problem. :-)

Can you tell me what you did prior to this problem showing up? Did you
have an old Domain controller that was replaced without first
synchronizing it to preserve the SIDs? Any information you can provide
should help.

Thanks,

When I was hired with this company, the whole thing was a big mess.
They had finally given up and ordered brand new dells and installed
all new cat 5 ether. and a bought a new firewall (which has yet to be
implemented due to all of these confilcts and problems). The network
settings had all been configured prior to my arrival, and whatever was
done to cause this problem was done prior also. So I really can't
tell you how this happened or anything with details because I just
don't know. I'm poking around in the dark myself. :-) As far as I
know, this is what happened: The gentleman who was the pc tech here
logged onto this workstation, and decided to change the network ID and
properties. Instead of checking "my computer is part of a workgroup",
he checked "my computer is part of a domain" and renamed a new domain
the same thing as the old one, and the workgroups are also named
december. So everything is december. I would have figured that win2k
would not allow this, but.... I am trying to find more details for
you. Thank you so much for your patience and help.

I've found this article.. Can you tell me if following the directions
(removing the computer from the domain into a "dummy" workgroup and
back into the domain) fixes anything?

Thanks,

Actually, I think this one might be the link you need.. Please let me
know if it works..

Article on JSI - "Your Windows 2000 Server prompts domain users for
credentials?"
http://www.jsifaq.com/SUBL/tip5800/rh5899.htm

It's not really "specific" to what you're experiencing, but, I'm
guessing it will work.

Thanks
