I would like to know which banks (e.g., ~20) in the New England area
that use "Telecheck" only (not other systems such as ChexSystems or
NCPS or credit bureau reports) to open new checking accounts for
individuals. In particular, I am interested in the states of NH, MA,
CT, RI, VT, and ME, in that order. [If you need a point of reference
for searches, consider that those closest to Boston are the best first
choices, but it is highly unlikely that banks/credit unions in major
cities will meet this criteria.] Credit Unions that are open to state
residents in general, or those residing within a certain area of the
state, and use "Telecheck" or no system at all to open new checking
accounts would also be useful. Unless you can obtain client info from
Telecheck or otherwise obtain this info online, you might need to call
banks and credit unions to inquire about this. Smaller, more rural
banks are more likely to use Telecheck or even nothing (or something
local and limited) for verfication purposes for opening new checking
accounts. Any phone charges incurred will be covered in the tip,
along with a tip commensurate with effort. It might be helpful to
refer to two questions I posted previously on the topic of banks. In
addition, please be certain to inquire about opening personal checking
accounts, not verification systems for mortgages, etc. If you make an
effort, and record which banks/credit unions you contacted and what
verification agencies they use, provided you are contacting the
smaller ones, an answer with no links to Telecheck will still receive
payment. Thank you.

henry041696-ga,

Time may be against me on this one, but I am willing to put in a few
days work to see if I can churn out the information that you are
looking for. Could you give me a better idea of how you are defining
"smaller banks" Obviously, the national banks like Bank of America, or
Bank One wouldn't makre the cut, but what should I be looking for as
far as smaller institutuions are concerned? Number of branches?
Lending power? Would online banks be a consideration?

I found a great source for Telecheck/ChexSystems information
http://aboutmycredit.com/chexsystems_solutions.htm

This other site tells you step by step how to get removed from Chexsystems.

I even found a list of non Chexsystems banks!
