Question ID: 118077
I'm looking for an affordable Internet merchant account provider - I
already have a gateway. The problem is my business is considered
somewhat high risk (Travel related) and my credit is not the greatest.
The best rate I can find is close to seven percent. Can you help me
find a reputable company with a lower rate.

At the risk of giving away the farm: is a 3rd party processor ok? i.e.
services where they handle the credit card transactions, and just give
you the money?

I should make it more clear as to what I'm suggesting: there are
services on the internet where people can 'send you money' from a
credit card and/or their bank account. A small fee (a lot less than
7%!) is taken off of the transaction. There is no credit check. The
only downside is that you are not able to take a credit card # and
'process' it yourself: the client has to do that.

Thanks

Do you need "traditional" equipment such as printer, terminal, etc.,
or will all of your transactions be done via the Net?

I will be using Verisign or Authorize.net for my gateway...I don't
need equipment...I currently use Paypal as to process payments but I
don't like that user has to create a Paypal account to send money - I
am pretty set on getting a typical internet merchant account..

tman..

Thanks for your question. There are several options available to you
for a merchant account with lower than 7% fees. Being that you
already have a gateway, that made it a little bit more challenging,
however, there are some places you can look. You may want to check
with these organizations to see if they will waive the gateway fee:

AMS Merchant Account Services
http://www.merchant-accounts.com/index.html
2.19%
30 cents per transaction
$10 statement fee
$10 Authorize.net gateway fee

AmeriMerchant
http://www.amerimerchant.net/
No Application Fee, No Setup Fee
98% Approval Rate
2.19% - 2.40% depending on your processing volume
31 cents a transaction
$10/month statement fee
$25/month Authorize.net gateway fee

1st American Card Service
http://www.1stamericancardservice.com/
2.3%
30 cents per transaction
99% approval rate
$9.00 Statement Fee
$20.00 minimum monthly charge

Thanks for your question and I hope one of the above services meets
your needs. If you need any additional clarification, please let me
know.

Regards,
