When will the sony gps memory stick be available in the United States?

Would an answer that the GPS Memory Stick will be available in the
United States "in the future" be sufficient?  My research indicates
that Sony has not estimated a release date, but rather has made
generic statements about its "future" plans.

thank you for your answer so far.  I guess since they don't give a
release date it would be important to know to whether they are even
intending to release the gps memory stick (item number is PEGA-MSG1)
in the US in the future.  I gather that products released in Japan
(currently a japanese version is available but everything including
the manual is in japanese) don't always get release eventually in
other places like the US.  So if you can find out if they are planning
to do so that would be helpful to know.  Thanks

Hi Struhl-ga,

A follow-up email to Sony has revealed that they will not give out
information on whether it will be released in the US at all.

"Currently, the GPS Memory Stick Media is not available in the United
States. Sony does not disclose upcoming product releases or related
information upon request."

Product announcements can be found at http://64.35.93.160/productnews.

A look at the tech new sites has revealed nothing except that the Sony
Memory Stick GPS module was release in Japan at the end of 2001 and
speculation about its plans for the product outside that country.

Maybe another researcher will come up with something more concrete!

Hi struhl-ga,

I've emailed Sony for information regarding the GPS memory stick;
however, I was unable to find out anything concrete. The
representative who emailed me back said they had no information on a
date of release for GPS memory stick in the US.
He recommended checking back at SonyStyle.com peridoically to check
for updates on the release date of this product. I'm sorry I couldn't
have been of more help.
