There is very little available information. The best statistics I have
found are from the Chinagolf expo web site. The next exhibition to be
held in BEIJING in 2003. Other pages include statistics on the number
of Chinese visitors to the 2002 exhibition.
“China: the world's No.1 population
Urban population: 400 - 450 million people (0.2 % of the population
going in for golf sport in 1999)
Number of Cities: 600 major cities with a population of one million
people each
There are 200 golf courses and 500 golf ranges in China by 2002 and
500 to 1000 golf courses are expected to build within next five years.
There are over 16 golf courses and 30 golf ranges in Beijing as of
2002.
Golfers and fans soared to 5 % in 2001”
