jackburton, if you think you have a solution go ahead and answer the
question if katan doesn't mind. I am still researching this and
although I suspect I know what the problem is, I do not yet have a
solution and would prefer to have a look at the files being imported
to outlook before posting an answer.

hi katan,
thank you both for letting me to step in.
Firstly, I'd like to make it clear that I don't personally own this
particular handset, but I have been researching this question and have
been getting advice from other Nokia 9210 owners. I have been in
contact with two owners of this handset who have also experienced the
problems you have reported.
One owner's advice is as follows:
-------------------------------------------------------------
I gave up trying to synchronise both ways. Now I:
1) ALWAYS enter / modify the data on the 9210
2) Synchronise from the communicator to update Outlook only
3) I never enter data into outlook and never allow outlook to write to
the communicator.
4) This applies to calendar entries, tasks and contacts. This solves
all the problems with duplicates and helped with field matching
problems. I'm not sure it is perfect, but it is the best I have found.
5) For data back up, I back up from the communicator drive to MMC card
using the facility in the 9210's file manager and then back the MMC up
to PC via USB reader.
-------------------------------------------------------------
I've also contacted "Patrick Doherty" from "Nokia 9210 Multimedia" (
www.n9210.co.uk ). He agrees with the above and his comments are:
-------------------------------------------------------------
9210 is my data master, and copies to all other systems (with the
exception of Lotus Notes mail). Nothing ever send data to the 9210
(again except LN mail). That way I can be sure the 9210 which is
always with me is always correct and up to date.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Let me know if this answer is acceptable for you.
thanks

Hello Jack
Thank you for your efforts. I have been using the 9210 exactly as
advised by
your two contacts . I mentioned this in the earliest postings of my
question. I enter the data on the Nokia and then from there to
Outlook. It would be useful if you could ask the Nokia contact what
happens to Outlook's fields when one adds a field , renames a field in
the phone ; these changes are not picked up or they mess up the
display in my Outlook.
I use Outlook 2002 . I said earlier that it was 2000 and that was a
mistake.Looking forward to your further help.
Sofar there is nothing I am afraid that I did not know and that I did
not disclose on this site. Many thanks and regards
