I have demo version of SilkTest6.0 and planning to buy the full by
Jan.'03.
I have never worked with any automated test tool. I am reading the
tutorial and user's guide but still not very clear to me. Looks like,
I am not able to understand the very basic know-how to start with
SilkTest6.0

ACtually, I don't know what exactly I need. Bottomline is I want to
learn silk test. I have no previous exp on automatic testing tool. I
am trying to learn myself by taking help of tutorials. I want
step-by-step guidelines to operate silktest. and also common mistakes
generally new users are doing so that I can check myself, whether I am
doing the same mistake or not.

Usually, the best way to learn a new program is to...well... USE IT!
Silkware comes with some amount of Help. They may also have provided
sample programs and tutorials. Work through them. Try a small and
simple testing project of your own.

If you have specific questions, start at Silkware Support. I couldn't
thoroughly investigate, because a login is required, but you should be
able to get in. They have Forums, downloads, an FAQ, a searchable
Knowledge Base, etc.

There are also Segue User Groups. If there is a group in your area,
contact them and/or go to a meeting.

There is a light online tutorial page at:
http://www.automationexpertise.com/resources.htm

If you want intensive help and can spend some money, there are
training courses available from Segue.

Other companies also offer SilkTest training:
http://www.logigear.com/training/class_auto_silk.html
http://www.automationexpertise.com/training.htm

I did not find any books devoted specifically to SilkTest. The books
in this area seem to be devoted to general software testing
techniques.

Hopefully, this is enough to get you started. One or more of these
avenues should get you a good learning environment.

Good luck with SilkTest!
