I am looking for the words to a poem I recited at a Christmas play when I was in the third grade about 65 years ago. The title was "I'm watin' for the twenty sixth". It was about a little boy that was trying to be good until the day after Christmas. The first verse was: I've washed my face and combed my hair: I've not forgot to say my prayers. I've never jerked or slammed the door, nor gone a sliding on the floor, because for weeks ago I knew that Christmas Day would soon be due. I'm watin' for the twenty-sixth. |
