Angel --

The PBS site, "American Experience" explains the "Twenty-One" gameshow
scandal on its web page on Dan Enright, the producer:

"Twenty-One" hyped the popularity of its show, which was positioned
against the top-rated "I Love Lucy" by having Charles Doren, a
Columbia University professor, win every week for 14 straight weeks.

But it wasn't the only show arranging for participants to get fed
answers -- and it led to a New York Grand Jury investigation in 1958
and Congressional investigations by 1959:

Angel --

I forgot to append my Google search strategy, which should help in the
background. There's been a lot written about the participants and the
implications for TV:

Google search strategy:
"Twenty-One" + scandal
"tic tack dough" + scandal
