Hello,

I am looking for summer research/seminar programs for graduate
students in neuroscience, cognitive science, evolutionary biology, or
artifical intelligence.
I am most interested in:
Programs at universities/institutions known for research
Programs which award a stipend, or do not require tuition
Programs shorter than 2 months, during the summer months
Programs with a research component

A good example of something I would be interested in is the Santa Fe
Institute's "Complexity Summer School"

Location is not an issue, either within the United States or outside
of the country. Also, being female, I would be eligible for any type
of "Women in Science" program. Thank you.

ANSWER

Hello beckin-ga,

This was a fun project to try to identify summer programs for you but
I was very disappointed to find that most of the summer research
seminars and programs are designated for undergraduates. I was able to
find some programs in your specified fields at the graduate level, but
not nearly as many as there are for undergraduates. I hope that one of
them will fit your needs and interests.

Wishing you well in your summer learning adventures.

RAND Graduate Student Summer Associate Program
Summer associates typically work at RAND for a 12-week period.
Students are given the opportunity to conduct independent research
that can be completed during the three months they are at RAND. RAND
projects are typically interdisciplinary. Some research projects bring
together economists, psychologists, statisticians, and health
professionals, for example, whereas others bring together engineers,
operations researchers, and students of organizational behavior.

Thank you for the search...were you able to find any programs outside
of the United States?

No, I didn't come up with any. I did notice that some of the schools
that had undergraduate research programs but didn't list graduate
programs sometimes offered special seminars only for their own
students. I think your university's career center should be able to
help with your search. I definitely recommend that you visit them to
see what they have to offer.

Good luck for an interesting summer.
