I am looking for humourous songs about horses and sites where I can
find respective MP3 files. A $2 tip will be paid for each of the
first five songs. A tip of $1 for each of the first five poems, maybe
more if truly gut wrenching...

Howdy brudenell!

I hope that three songs and three poems (which are songs too, but
which I couldn't find on MP3) will be sufficient.

The MP3s are for "Mr. Ed" (a horse, of course!), "High Horse", and
"Tennessee Stud".

The poems/songs are: "That Buckin' Song"; "The Cowboy in the
Continental Suit", and "Old Showboat".

I tried to find more, but that's all I could come up with. (I
couldn't find the words or an MP3 for "Pinto Pony", by Paul Siebel;
that would be another good one. I've left out another song about a
pinto pony, "Across The Alley From The Alamo", because it doesn't seem
so much funny as dated and vaguely offensive to Native Americans. Oh
well, I guess I lost out on a $2 tip there.)

Hope you like 'em!

Search strategy:

Searched on Google for "songs about horses" and for "horse songs";

Found two albums of songs relating to horses;

Listened to many of those songs;

Searched for the humorous songs, and the titles I hadn't heard, on
Google.

I also left out the text of "The Old Grey Mare" -- it looks more
repetitive than humorous, though when set to music, it's kinda funny!

Hello justaskscott-ga

Good start.

How about adding the words & MP3 of "The Old Grey Mare" and the names
of the two albums about horses?

Here are the two albums:

"Horse Songs"
MAG Records
http://www.magrecords.com/horses.html

"Great Songs About Horses"
Tower Records
http://www.towerrecords.com/product.asp?pfid=2717393&cc=USD

Now it's a funny thing about "Old Grey Mare". You'd think there'd be
lots of MP3s and definitive lyrics out there. But I haven't found any
complete MP3s, only a partial instrumental MP3 (as I said, the music
is funnier), along with general confusion about the lyrics (especially
because so many songs are set to its tune). (I even searched for the
title with "Gray" with an "a"; I found nothing better.) I assume that
the partial instrumental MP3 doesn't suit your needs. So, here is a
set of lyrics from the most "official" source I could find -- alumni
of the United States Naval Academy.

"Naval Songs"

To compensate, here's a funny poem/song I missed the first time --
from the people who brought us the classic(?) "Fish Heads"!:
