Have you tried installing it again as though it was never installed,
and then trying to run the uninstall again? A file (ADVAP132.DLL) may
have been deleted by another uninstaller, or by an ad-ware removal
program, or another user of the computer, etc, which may be replaced
if you reinstall Incredimail before trying to uninstall it again.

Hello granna,

Great question!

After doing quite a bit of research, I have come to the conclusion
that you are one of the many suffering from the uninstall process.
Here is how to properly uninstall this program :

I am assuming you ran the uninstall program. That was the correct
first step. Now you have to delete the incredimail Windows folder and
registry entries. Here is how you go about this :

- Navigate your way to your Program Files directory

- It is probably located here ----> C:\Program Files

- Delete the "IncrediMail" folder that may be present

- Now pull up your Start Menu in the lower left hand of the screen

- Click on 'Run', and type in 'regedit' without the quotes. Hit enter

- This pulls open your registry editor

- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE (click on it)

- Delete the "IncrediMail" key if it is present

Close the editor and save all changes. Now restart your machine. This
should solve your problem.

Excerpt from Realwomen Bulletin
"IncrediMail is very hard to uninstall. Even if you run a custom
Uninstall and select every item to be removed, the folder Program
Files\IncrediMail\bin remains, with the undeletable file imshext.dll
in it."

This will manually uninstall the references to the DLL file made from
the Incredimail program.

Hummer made a good call - to actually fix the corrupt/missing DLL
file, as it is a shared Windows file.

However, you can do as I suggested, then do as Hummer suggested to
repair the file afterwords, as I suspect the problem came about after
you tried to do a uninstall of Incredimail. The uninstall *seems* to
have corrupted the path and not the actual file in question. This is
just an educated guess, since you report no other problems with any
other programs.

Let me know how it goes, and we can take appropriate steps from there.

Thanks again!
SgtCory

Hi Sgtcory,
If I delete the Incredimail folder etc., will I loose all my e-mails????

Hello granna,

Yes - I was under the impression you were deleting the whole
program/files/registry .... please accept my apologies for the
assumption.

Seems like you may need to take the long path if you want to keep all
the emails. (Or you could export the emails from within the program. I
am unsure of the export options with Incredimail. Click ---> file to
see your transfer options.)

Your next and last step is to recopy the DLL file that may be corrupt
in an effort to recover the original uninstall program. The very
lengthy directions for Windows 95 (sfc is not available with 95) can
be found here:

HOW TO: Extract Original Compressed Windows Files
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q129605#8

You would want to extract the 'missing' ADVAP132.DLL file to your
Windows/System folder.

The best option would be to figure out the export options with
Incredimail. I have read they have many, you may just need to search
around the program for them. Once you get the emails exported to
another directory or program, you can then delete the program in it
entire form safely.

I hope this helps clarify a bit more.

Hi granna,

Two fairly easy things to try -

Assuming you can do this with W95, the easiest thing to try first is
(and something you should do as part of regular maintenance anyway):
Start/Run/type in sfc/OK/Scan for Altered File

Hopefully, it will find an altered file and you'll be prompted to
restore it from your Windows 95 CD.

Do you have Internet Explorer? Downloading or upgrading to IE 5.5
might solve the problem.

Cheers,
hummer

Hello hummer,
I tried to run scf/ok/scan for Altered Files but unfortunately it
doesn't run on my comp. I have already upgraded to 5.5 Thank you for
your help.
