I am an audio/recording newbie and am looking to hook up a MXL large
diaphram condenser microphone, into a Studio V3 Preamp (made by
Applied Research and Technology), and then run that into my Sound
Blaster Live! sound card.

Currently the only input I can think of using on my SB Live card is
the Microphone input, but when I record anything (in Sound Forge 4.0)
all i get is a solid wall of noise.. I woundn't call it distortion, it
looks more like an even pattern of squared off sine waves. There is
absolutley no voice coming through, it seemes the preamp is causing
some kind of problem, or, I don't have the right cable and am using
the wrong input.

I have contacted sound blaster, they were no help, I contacted the
maker of the preamp but they have yet to get back to me.

**time passes**

Ok, I just tried hooking it up to a basic tape recorder with a mic
input, and i got the exact same wall of noise buzzing sound... I dunno
if that helps any.

Thanks!
