I heard a song on NPR a long time ago, I'm pretty sure it was called "The Young Republicans". I have no idea who the author is. The lyrics are as follows: Well she can drink and smoke and vote and has a place up with the boys and her goal is to control the things the priveleged class enjoys and motherhood will follow a career with equal pay she doesn't think her drinking chums would take it all away But the rights which she's embraced were won by people she despised and opposed by those who top the list of men she'd idolize and if she had nothing to lose I guess I'd understand this political reactionary of the fatherland And we lift our heads high, and yes we're the young republicans, we pledge in our neck-ties, and yes we're the young republicans That's all I remember Who wrote it? Extra credit (read: $$) if you can find me the cd | |

Hello cardsharque-ga, I havent been able to confirm that it is the same song, but there is a song by a group called Billy and Lisa titled Young Republicans on their album Wake up the Neighbors (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=SEARCH&sql=Azr508qxtbt04). I found it listed for sale at a few places Records by Mail http://www.recordsbymail.com/static/Rock_LPs/1080-1100.html Vinyl Revival http://www.vinylrevival.com/cgi-bin/srch.cgi?wake+up+the+neighbors Bolt Beats http://www.boltbeats.com/bolt-b-bl.html Googlenut |

Thanks googlenut, I need to be sure it's the right group before I buy the CD. |
