Dear seansastronomyshop,

Though Synta is appearantly the biggest manufacturer of optical
equipment in China, the company is harder to locate than I though. All
I was able to find are the postal addresses of the company headquarter
(in Taiwan, not in China!) and of the Chinese branch. Would these do?

Dear Sean League,

These are the addresses I found in a newsgroup posting. Please note
that I have not been able to verify them, despite searching Chinese
and Taiwanese telephone and business directories for hours. I am very
amazed that an important company makes such a secret of its postal
address, but as I noticed during my research, many others who were
interested in contacting Synta experienced exactly the same problems.

Here the addresses:

Synta Optical Technology Corporation
No. 89 Lane 4
Chia An W. Rd
Long Tan, Tao Yuan
Taiwan

Synta Optical Technology Corporation
No. 28 Huqiu Xi Road
Suzhou
China

The Taiwan address should be the one of the company headquarters,
while Suzhou is home to Synta's main production plant.
I have been, alas, not been able to find any other contact
information. Long research led to dead ends only, and I did not decide
offering you this as an answer before I was finally convinced that it
is the best that can be found, though it is, to my own displeasure,
not very much.

Amazing you got this, Scriptor,

I had a look at the question earlier on and gave up very soon.

Chinese companies often have a very different name in Chinese, so
knowing what their Western name is does not help in most cases. On top
of that: Chinese does not have phone directories and the emerging
Yellow Pages that do exist are often amazingly inaccurate.

Yes, the lack of public phone directories made the whole thing even
more complicated ... the only ones I was able to use were the various
Yellow Page phone directories you mentioned - but I soon noticed that
they would not be a big help...

Now let's hope the information I located will prove useful for Sean
League.
