Hi answer123!! The correct answer to this question is b)Diffraction When light waves pass near a barrier, they tend to bend around that barrier and spread out at oblique angles. "Reflection involves a change in direction of waves when they bounce off a barrier; refraction of waves involves a change in the direction of waves as they pass from one medium to another; and diffraction involves a change in direction of waves as they pass through an opening or around an obstacle in their path." Taken from "The Physics Classroom - Lesson 1: How Do We Know Light Behaves as a Wave?" http://www.physicsclassroom.com/Class/light/U12L1a.html More information will be found here (you will like this!!): "OLYMPUS MIC-D: Physics of Light and Color - Diffraction of Light" http://www.mic-d.com/curriculum/lightandcolor/diffraction.html "OLYMPUS MIC-D: Interactive Java Tutorial - Diffraction of Light" http://www.mic-d.com/java/basicdiffraction/index.html Definition: "Diffraction: a modification which light undergoes in passing by the edges of opaque bodies or through narrow slits or in being reflected from ruled surfaces and in which the rays appear to be deflected and to produce fringes of parallel light and dark or colored bands; also : a similar modification of other waves (as sound waves)" from "Physics Tutoring Electricity, Magnetism, and Optics - Diffraction" by Irina Nelson, Ph.D: http://www.slcc.edu/schools/hum_sci/physics/tutor/2220/diffraction/ Search keywords: diffraction light physics Search engine: Google Search results page: ://www.google.com/search?q=diffraction+light+physics&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&start=0&sa=N I hope this helps you, if you need some clarification, please post a request for it.
